Citroen will launch the electric version of its C3 soon as its senior management had confirmed at the C3 launch earlier this year. The C3 electric will launch in January next year and will be an important product in regards to electric mobility and expanding the buyer choices.

The C3 electric will be competing with the Tata Tiago EV which was also launched recently. While the exact specifications have not been revealed yet, the C3 EV will get a 30.2kWh battery pack which will provide decent power.

The car will also be compatible with fast charging while the expected range would be ample too. We expect a range of around 300km or so with the C3 EV. Styling wise the C3 EV will not be much different from the petrol C3 with minor changes being expected.

The interior would also be the same with of course the gear selector being replaced. Citroen will target aggressive pricing with the C3 EV with only a modest premium over the petrol C3. The C3 was launched some time back with a turbo petrol and a naturally aspirated 1.2l unit with 5-speed and a 6-speed manual.

Along with an EV version, the C3 will also be expected to get an automatic option with the gearbox being a torque converter automatic and  not an AMT. Citroen might also introduce more features in the C3 including a rear wiper amongst other features.

Citroen will be betting big with the C3 in India and the EV version will take charge with major volumes being expected from this car. Alongside this, Citroen will also launch more products and fill in the product gaps in its portfolio. The car-maker is also readying a three row crossover for the Indian market as its next big all new car.
