BYD has launched its most premium product yet and it sits above the Atto 3 EV SUV — the BYD Seal. The Seal is a premium electric sedan and is priced at Rs 41 lakh for the entry-level dynamic trim. The premium trim comes at Rs 45.55 lakh, with the flagship performance variant being priced at Rs 53 lakh.

The BYD Seal comes with a 61.4/82.56 battery pack with a claimed range of up to 650 km for the mid-premium to 580 km for performance and 510 km for the dynamic version. The Seal either comes with an all-wheel drive form or a single motor rear-drive layout with power of up to 530 Bhp

Like all electric cars, performance is plenty. The fastest performance trim reaches 0-100 km time in 3.8 seconds. Also, as common to other BYD cars, the Seal uses Blade battery technology with fast charging.

The Seal has a coupe-like shape, with details like boomerang LED DRLs and a sharper look with a low nose.

Since it is an electric car, there is no conventional grille. The rear has a connected LED light set-up. Other details include flush door handles, a glass roof, and a 50-litre frunk along with a boot.

Inside, you will find a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen with a rotating display which is also present in the other BYD cars. Other features include an 8-way powered driver seat along with heated/cooled seats, ADAS, 360-degree camera and more.

The BYD Seal competes with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and that is the only rival at this price point even though the Seal is not an SUV.

The Seal has a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and in India comes with a free home charger (if booked before March 31), portable charging box and an 8-year warranty for battery plus motor. Bookings have also started at Rs 1.5 lakh.
