New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has recently updated two of its MPVs including the Ertiga and XL6 so the question now is, which one to buy? Well, the Ertiga is available in Arena dealerships while the XL6 is available in Nexa dealerships. However, there are more differences which we will talk about in this comparison.

Which is bigger?

The Ertiga has a length of 4395mm while the XL6 is longer at 4,445mm. The XL6 is also wider than the Ertiga. However, both have the same ground clearance at 180mm. That said, the XL6 looks more SUV-like with its different styling plus better looking 16inch alloy wheels. It looks more premium too while the Ertiga, though nice looking, is more of an MPV, which it is.

Which car has the better interior?

The Ertiga gets dual-tone upholstery inside with a new wood finish. It is airier with lighter colours over the XL6 with its darker trim. However, the materials used to the overall quality inside, the XL6 does feel a bit more premium here with the silver finish. Space-wise, the Ertiga is a three-row MPV while the XL6 is also that but the XL6 has a captain seat lay-out in the second row with individual seats.

Which car has more features?

The new Ertiga gets a 7inch touchscreen with a new infotainment system while also getting features like a rearview camera, cruise control, Suzuki connected car tech, electrically foldable ORVMs, 4 airbags, cooled cupholders etc. The XL6 has all that but adds in full LED headlamps, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree view camera, ambient lighting etc.

What about engine options?

Both cars have the same 1.5l petrol engine with a smart hybrid tech including an idle start/stop function. There is about 103bhp while the new XL6 does 20.97kpl for the manual version and 20.27kpl for the auto. The Ertiga surprisingly has less efficiency at 20.51kpl for the manual and 20.30kpl with the auto. Both cars have the same 6-speed automatic/5-speed manual gearbox. The automatic gets paddle shifters too. The Ertiga does get a CNG option though which is not there with the XL6.

Which is a better value?

The XL6 is more premium than the Ertiga with prices ranging from Rs 11.2 lakh to Rs 14.55 lakh. The Ertiga is much cheaper since there is a larger variant line-up with prices starting at Rs 8.3 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh. The XL6 is surely a more premium option while the Ertiga seems more value for money.
