New Delhi: BMW's next big launch in the motorcycle space is supersport and is set to be the smaller sibling to the S 1000 RR. This is an important launch for BMW Motorrad India but for many, it could be their first premium performance motorcycle. To do exactly this, BMW partnered with TVS and the G310 RR is a restyled Apache RR310. There are some styling differences and other small details namely the design aspect where you can see the identifiable colour scheme for BMW bikes and also it takes inspiration from fully faired bigger motorcycles like the much more expensive S 1000 RR.
Just like the TVS, the G310 RR will have a track focus but it would be the most affordable one in the Motorrad India range. The BMW version is not a carbon copy of the TVS though as the front-end is indeed different. While the alloys and suspension appear to be the same, the visor and the headlamp unit would be different with a new DRL signature along with the aforementioned colour scheme.

In terms of power, the G310 RR will have the same single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which develops 34hp. Pre Bookings for the bike are open ahead of a July 15 launch with deliveries starting soon post that. The biggest rival for the new BMW G310RR could be the KTM RC 390 which also recently came in a new avatar. The restyled performance motorcycle has a bigger tank and a new fairing plus new dual-tone colour options. The KTM has more power though with its 373cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine developing 42.9 bhp.
Where the BMW could have an edge is pricing as the KTM is a bit premium with its price of 3.14 lakh ex-showroom and we expect the G310 RR to be priced above the G310 and of course the Apache RR310 but below the KTM to maintain the positioning.
