Electric cars seem to be popular with the car-makers participating at the 2023 Auto Expo, with Kia confirming the presence of the EV9 Concept at the Auto Expo. The EV9 is its flagship electric SUV and it is based on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6.

The EV9 would be showcased via concept form and we expect a production version to come later in 2023 globally. The concept EV9 dimensions shows that it is a very large SUV being 4,930mm in length, 2,055mm width, 1,790mm height and having a wheelbase of 3,100mm. The EV9 concept has a driving range of up to 300 miles or 500km. It also has fast charging technology with a 350-kW charger, which means you can juice it up from 10% to 80% in 20-30 minutes.

The EV9 does not get the usual grille while ICE Kia cars have and instead gets the digital tiger nose grille along with boxy SUV like design elements. Further, helping the aerodynamics are retractable roof rails and a camera system which replaces usual mirrors. The interiors are futuristic with a 27-inch ultra-wide display and a simple yet luxurious look.

There are other cool concepts like bits where the seats move around and the occupants in the third row and the first row face each other with a touch of a button. The interior also uses vegan leather and other sustainable materials on the inside. The worldwide unveil would take place in the first quarter of 2023 and it would be too early to say whether it is coming to India or not.

At the Auto Expo, we expect Kia to show other global products while also giving us a glimpse of its concept car. For now, the massive EV9 promises to be one of the stars at the Expo and also pushes Kia into a premium direction with the EV6 also being a success despite being imported into small numbers in India.
