BMW is having a busy year and with the launch of the all new generation 5 Series sedan being a few days away, the German luxury carmaker has also revealed the new generation X3 SUV.

The new X3 will also be coming to India later this year and like the 5 Series would also be one the key launches for the brand. The new fourth generation X3 is all new with a new platform, new interior and more technology.

For India, we expect the four-cylinder petrol and diesel units in the new BMW X3 20 xDrive and new BMW X3 20d xDrive to come.

Globally there is also a X3 30e xDrive with plug-in hybrid drive with an increased electric range of 81 - 90 kilometres while there is also a faster BMW X3 M50 xDrive.

The new fourth gen X3 looks bigger and more premium with a more aggressive look. In terms of dimensions it is 34mm longer than the earlier gen X3 and is lower too for a more sleek look. The wheelbase is unchanged at 2,865 millimetres.

There is a large split BMW kidney grille and new L shaped headlamps with Adaptive Matrix ones plus 18/19 inch alloys are standard.

Inside, it is indeed all new and there is a jump while closing the gap in terms of being premium with the X5. There is a new curved display along with an interaction bar, new steering wheel and gear selector. Passengers at the rear have more kneerom and easier entry.

The new X3 also comes with a leather free interior and also globally comes with an option where the instrument panel is built from recycled materials.

The screens and the latest infotainment system bring it up to date as well in terms of tech. The new X3 looks bold and would be one of the key models for India while in its new avatar would be more expensive of course when it comes later this year.
