Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, MLA of the ruling YSR Congress Party, claimed that if early elections for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly were held, the party would lose because people are unhappy with the tardy progress in the ongoing development projects in the SPSR Nellore district.

On Tuesday, while supervising the construction of village secretariat buildings in Sydapuram Mandal, which is part of his home district of SPSR Nellore and falls under his home constituency of Venkatagiri, Ramanarayana Reddy said that the Assembly elections might be advanced and in such an event, MLAs from his party would have to return home defeated.

Former Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Ramanarayana Reddy criticised the unsatisfactory development of the village secretariat construction for several reasons. Only two or three of the 18 village secretariat buildings in the area where construction was taking place are currently completed, he noted.

Ramanarayana Reddy criticised the Andhra Pradesh government for not developing the state. He said that the party would not win the election just because the government is paying pensions. He said that the party had lost the faith of the people and would not win the election held any time from now.

According to the ABP Desam report, the YSRCP had been considering taking disciplinary action against the senior YSRCP MLA for his comments, which had previously embarrassed the ruling party on multiple occasions.

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed the party to name Ram Kumar Reddy, the son of former chief minister Nedurumilli Janardhana Reddy, to handle party affairs in the Venkatagiri constituency.
