New Delhi: "Leaving for Bhimavaram to attend a very special programme," tweeted PM Modi on Monday as he is headed to Andhra Pradesh's Bhimavaram to unveil a bronze statue of Alluri Sitharama Raju on the freedom fighter's 125th birth anniversary after a two-day-long BJP National Executive Meeting followed by addressing a rally in Hyderabad.
PM Modi planted a sapling at Rajbhavan in Hyderabad before his departure to Andhra Pradesh. As the weather is not suitable, authorities are also discussing the option of PM Modi reaching Bhimavaram by road.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan are expected to receive PM Modi and will take part in the statue unveiling event of the "great" freedom fighter.
"Leaving for Bhimavaram to attend a very special programme- the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the great freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. Will also unveil a bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju. This will enhance the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations," PM Modi tweet reads.

Alluri Sitharama Raju, born in 1987, was known for leading a revolt against the British from the Rampa rebellion -- also known as Manyam Rebellion -- in 1922.
The Rampa Rebellion began in August 1922 and lasted until the killing of Sitharama Raju in May 1924. Raju was given a title of "Manyam Veerudu"
Meanwhile, on Sitharama Raju's birth anniversary several leaders took to their Twitter handles by giving tributes to the freedom fighter and notifying the significance of his revolt against the British.
