Chennai: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday. The President of the Telugu Desam Party, Naidu, also requested the people who came in contact with him to get tested at the earliest. 

In a tweet, the current leader of Opposition said, "I've tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms. I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions." 

"I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest. Please be safe and take care," he said.

As of Monday, Andhra Pradesh recorded 4,108 novel coronavirus cases taking the total number of active cases in the state to 30,182 persons. The state tested 22,882 samples on Monday and the test positivity rate of the state lies at 19 percent, nearly four percent more than Sunday. 

The state also witnessed the discharges of 696 persons. All the more, AP did not record any COVID-19 related deaths in the 24 hours from Sunday.

The highest positive cases were reported in Visakhapatnam with 1,018 persons testing positive for the virus followed by Chittor with 1,004 patients. 

The Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced a night curfew between 11 PM and 5 AM last week and capped the viewers in cinema halls to 50%. Andhra Pradesh has also given nod only to permit 100 guests for indoor events and 200 guests for outdoor gatherings.
