Meanwhile, senior TDP leaders sought the intervention of President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the arrest of Naidu, PTI reported.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Srikakulam MP Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu wrote, “Naidu, the former CM of AP, having a clean and unblemished political career spanning over 45 years…was illegally arrested…in an undemocratic manner.” He also addressed a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to take prompt action.
Kinjarapu wrote another letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighting the timing of the former CM’s arrest.
On the arrest, TDP spokesman Kommareddy Pattabhiram told ANI, "From yesterday night the Andhra Pradesh police & CID started the process of illegally arresting Chandrababu Naidu. Hundreds of policemen gathered outside the campsite of Chandrababu Naidu...They have illegally detained all the leaders who were staying at the campsite with Chandrababu Naidu."
"Chandrababu Naidu came out of the bus & asked a simple question 'What grounds are you arresting me?'...The police had no answer," he said.
The TDP Spokesperson said that the skill development case 'drama' had been ongoing for the past two years and just before the elections the arrest was made to brand Chandrababu Naidu as some kind of a corrupt politician.
However, he said, "People know that it is Jagan Mohan Reddy who is the most corrupt politician in the entire country."
Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh BJP condemned the arrest of Naidu. BJP state president D. Purandeshwari said, "It is not reasonable to arrest Chandrababu Naidu without giving proper notice, without naming him in the FIR, without taking an explanation, and without following the procedure. BJP condemns the arrest."
