Hyderabad: A state-level football player was stabbed to death by rivals at Gurunanak Colony in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Akash from Jakkampudi.
According to locals and police, a rowdy sheeter named Tony committed suicide two days ago in Vijayawada's Vambe Colony. During Tony's funeral, a dispute arose between two gangs, who were led by Akash and Prabhakar.
After Tony's funeral, members of both the gangs got drunk and a dispute broke out between both the gangs. Akash was forcefully shifted to Gurunanak Colony from the bar. Some people belonging to the rival gang came to know the location of Akash.

However, with this revenge in mind, the Prabhakar gang went to the place where Akash was staying on Tuesday night and indiscriminately attacked him. They arrived with knives and stabbed him to death. Akash was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said that the scuffle at Tony's funeral led to Akash's murder. Police identified 16 stab wounds on Akash's body. After a preliminary investigation, police detained and interrogated some of the suspects. Akash is a state-level football player who has participated in many tournaments and won trophies.
