Shaik Sabjee, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council member, died in a car accident at Cherukuvada village in West Godavari district on Friday. The mishap occurred when Sabjee (57) was on his way to Bhimavaram from Eluru. In the accident, the driver of MLC, his personal assistant and gunmen sustained injuries. 


Sabjee was declared dead by doctors at a hospital in Bhimavaram.


In the morning, Sabjee took part in a protest by Anganwadi teachers in Eluru town. 


A police official said, Sabjee's hatchback collided head-on with a similar vehicle in Cherukuvada around 12:30 PM.


West Godavari district superintendent of police U Ravi Prakash told PTI, "The car coming in the opposite direction was wobbling. The accident occurred within Undi police station limits. Sabjee died on the spot."


Sabjee, a teacher, was an independent MLC under Teacher's quota. Sabjee served from East and West Godavari districts with term till 2027. 


Sabjee was the president of the United Teachers Federation (UTF).

Last year, Challa Bhagirath Reddy, a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, passed away on November 2 at the age of 46, during treatment for pneumonia at a private hospital in Hyderabad. The MLC, originally from Owk in Nandyal district, is survived by his wife, Sri Lakshmi, and two sons. He was 46 years old at the time of his demise.














Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy conveyed his sorrow over the untimely passing of Bhageerath Reddy. While extending condolences to the grieving family, he remembered the young leader's dedicated services and praised him as an active political figure with a legacy, hailing from a family with a strong political background.


Bhageerath Reddy's father Rama Krishna Reddy was a three-time MLA of the Congress party.
