At least two persons dead after fire broke at a cracker stall in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada. Fire broke out in a firecracker stall setup in Gymkhana ground at Gandhi Nagar in Vijayawada on Sunday morning.


On the occasion of Diwali, the firecrackers stalls were set up at gymkhana grounds in the city. As soon as the information was received, the fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control. At least two casualties were suspected in the accident and two others were injured.


A total of three out of the 19 shops were burned down. Fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Fire and police departments are investigating the reasons for the mishap and a case has been registered.

"The incident took place during the wee hours while one of the shop owners was unloading firecrackers. Though initially it's been suspected that the crackers were country made, the actual reason is being ascertained. Three out of the 19 shops have been gutted in the fire. All precautionary measures such as stationing of fire personnel and presence of hand held fire extinguishers were provided at all the shops. As soon as the fire broke out, the fire personnel swung into action and were able to douse the fire," NTR District SP, Kanta Rana Tata said. 


The police further said that two members who were asleep at one of the shops have succumbed. A case has been registered.


Fire Accident In Firecracker Shop In Tirupati


A massive fire broke out at two firecracker shops at Vadamalapeta in Tirupati district. Police said crackers up to Rs 16 to 18 lakhs were destroyed in the fire accident.
