Six family members of Andhra Pradesh MLA were killed in a road accident in Texas in the US. The deceased were all relatives of YSR Congress Party MLA from Mummidivaram P Venkata Satish Kumar. All of them were returning from Texas after Christmas celebration.


The family in Amalapuram, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, received news that six were killed in a truck-car collision on a highway in Johnson County on Tuesday. The victims include P. Nageswara Rao (uncle of the MLA), Rao’s wife Seetha Mahalakshmi, daughter Naveena, grandson Kruthik, and granddaughter Nishitha. Another individual also lost their life in a tragic accident.


The sole survivor, Lokesh, who is the son-in-law of Nageswara Rao, sustained injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. His condition is reported to be critical.














According to the MLA, his uncle and family lived in Atlanta and were returning from Texas after Christmas visits. The collision happened at 4 p.m. on December 26 when a truck collided with their car. The MLA stated that the truck, driven by two youths, was in the wrong direction, causing the accident. Local police confirmed the truck's fault. The truck occupants were also injured and airlifted to a hospital.













The MLA said the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) is extending assistance to repatriate the bodies of the six deceased persons.


The US media report without revealing names of those involved in the accident, said there were two occupants in the truck who are also injured and have been hospitalised. The reports also quoted local police authorities as saying that the truck was at fault, as per a report on PTI.







Kumar is a two-time MLA who is now a member of the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh.
