Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Abu Dhabi's first Hindu stone temple.

Dressed in a light pink silk dhoti and kurta, Modi participated in the rituals dedicating the temple to the people.

Before the inauguration, Modi met individuals from diverse faiths who contributed to the temple's construction.

Participating in the ceremony, the prime minister symbolically offered water in the virtual Ganga and Yamuna rivers at the temple.

The prime minister joined the “Global Aarti” performed simultaneously at over 1,200 Swaminarayan sect temples worldwide.

The temple, constructed on a 27-acre site at a cost of around Rs 700 crore, follows ancient design principles mentioned in Hindu scriptures.

According to a PTI report, No metal was used in the temple's construction, and fly ash replaced 55 per cent of cement, reducing the carbon footprint.

Heat-resistant nano tiles and heavy glass panels were incorporated to make the temple comfortable for visitors in extreme temperatures.

Abu Dhabi's first Hindu temple, built in the Nagara style, comprises 18 lakh bricks and seven lakh man-hours of work.

The temple, constructed since 2019 on land donated by the UAE government, stands as the largest Hindu temple in the Gulf region.
