PM Modi today replied on the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President's address delivered on January 31, the first day of the budget session in Parliament. Here're highlights from his speech!
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Modi refuted allegations of selling and destroying public sector units. He asserted, 'We have turned around the story. Today LIC's shares are breaking records'.
Further taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, PM said: 'They have made a start-up for their 'Yuvraj'. But he is a non-starter, he neither lifts nor launches'.
PM also responded to Congress MP DK Suresh's 'separate nation' remark. He said: 'A nation is not just a piece of land for us. It is an inspirational unit for all of us. If one corner of the country lacks development, the entire country cannot become developed'.
Expressing concerns about the language used for political motives to divide the nation, PM said: 'Our tax, our money! What language is being used? This is dangerous to the future of the country'.
Modi also mentioned, 'The third term of our Government is not far. Modi 3.0 will use all its strength towards strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat.'
Looking ahead, Modi outlined a vision for the next five years, predicting recognition of India's youth in sports, transformation of public transport.
Modi highlighted the significance of tourism for employment and India's rise in the digital economy. He further said, 'I am confident that the country will believe in those whose guarantee has been tested'.
In response, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury urged the PM to 'turn the pages of history'. emphasising the absence of BJP's participation in the freedom struggle.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale supported Modi's data-driven explanation and assured public support for the government.
Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Jethmalani praised Modi's 'substantive' and 'passionate speeches', noting the 'lack of comparable substance' from the Opposition.
