What Is Endometriosis? Know Symptoms You Need To Keep In Mind

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic tissues.

This can lead to symptoms such as pelvic pain, painful periods, infertility, and other complications, impacting the quality of life for affected individuals.

Pelvic Pain: This is the most common symptom. It may vary in intensity and can occur before or during menstruation, during sexual intercourse, or during bowel movements.

Menstrual Irregularities: Women with endometriosis may experience heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, or spotting between periods.

Painful Intercourse: Pain during or after sexual intercourse, known as dyspareunia, can be a symptom of endometriosis.

Chronic Pelvic Pain: Persistent pain in the pelvic region that isn't necessarily related to menstruation can be a sign of endometriosis.

Painful Bowel Movements or Urination: Some women with endometriosis experience pain during bowel movements or urination, especially during menstruation.

Infertility: Endometriosis can lead to fertility problems in some women, although many women with endometriosis can still conceive.

Fatigue: Chronic pain and inflammation associated with endometriosis can lead to fatigue and low energy levels.
