David Corenswet will don the iconic cape as Superman in James Gunn’s highly anticipated film, set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
A teaser trailer, released recently, gave fans their first glimpse of Corenswet in action as the Man of Steel, sparking excitement across social media.
Born in Philadelphia, Corenswet initially attended the University of Pennsylvania before transferring to the prestigious Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama (2016).
David made his acting debut in the political thriller Affairs of State (2018), followed by guest roles in House of Cards, Elementary, and Instinct.
Corenswet rose to fame with his performance as River Barkley in Netflix’s hit series The Politician (2019–2020), cementing his status as a rising star.
David gained further recognition with a supporting role in Ti West’s Pearl and starred in HBO’s crime drama We Own This City (2022).
Director James Gunn shared that Corenswet’s audition immediately stood out, saying, “I saw David’s tape and thought, ‘Oh my God, we’re going to be okay.’”
Emmy-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will star opposite Corenswet as Lois Lane, alongside a stellar supporting cast.
David underwent intense physical training, bulking up to 238 pounds for the role. His trainer Paolo Mascitti praised his dedication, sharing, “David worked his a* off for this transformation.”
