President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, and several other leaders have expressed their condolences over the tragedy. Rescue operations in Wayanad are being conducted swiftly, with the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, NDRF, and local administration working together. The ADGPI tweeted that over a thousand affected people have been rescued so far. A control center has been set up in Meppadi, in addition to the state administration's control room, and rescue efforts are ongoing. According to Onmanorama, the death toll in the Wayanad landslide has reached 251. On Wednesday, 27 bodies were taken to Meppadi Hospital. In response to the disaster, all educational institutions in Wayanad have been closed. NCC students are helping the victims at schools. The Southern Command of the Indian Army posted videos and pictures of the rescue operation on X. The Army stated, "Two additional contingents from Trivandrum have arrived in Meppadi and are engaged in relief and rescue work. Preparations for constructing a 190-feet-long bridge in Churalmala are complete, and bridging equipment is expected to arrive soon. The evacuation of stranded individuals from Vellarimala in Vanarani Estate and Ela Estate in southwest Meppadi is still ongoing."
