Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir continue their anti-terror operation, Operation Akhal, in the dense forests of Kulgam. The joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, CRPF, and Special Operations Group has so far resulted in the neutralization of three militants. The operation began on Friday, July 28, based on intel that four to five militants, including suspected foreign terrorists, were hiding in the Akhal forest near Devsar. One militant, identified as Haris Dar from Pulwama, was killed in the initial gunfight. Another was killed on Saturday, followed by a third militant neutralized while hiding in a cave. Although his body is yet to be recovered, continued gunfire overnight suggests that one or two militants may still be at large. Troops are using advanced surveillance technologies to track movement, while intermittent firing from both sides continues. The recovered weapons indicate they were heavily armed. Despite challenging terrain and nightfall interruptions, security forces have maintained pressure, determined to eliminate the remaining threats.
