The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding the shooting incident where gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed in Prayagraj on April 15. The report was sent following a meeting between Sanjay Prasad, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, sources told ABP News.

Details of the report submitted to MHA have not been made clear. However, the report is expected to contain information about the nature of the incident, as well as any steps taken by the UP government to address it, sources added.

Chief Minister Adityanath has cancelled all of his scheduled programs for the day as he continues to monitor the ongoing situation in the state. Today, a meeting was scheduled with members of the BJP, but this has now been postponed. Additionally, officers have been ordered to report every 2 hours to provide updates on the situation.

In light of the incident, the security of all UP ministers has increased, and they are currently not allowed to meet with anyone. This move is likely an attempt to prevent any potential security breaches or attempts to interfere with the ongoing investigation.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of camera crews in Prayagraj on Saturday. Police personnel were escorting the Ahmed brothers to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup when the incident occurred.
