UP News: A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old neighbour in Ghaziabad's Muradnagar area, news agency PTI reported on Tuesday, citing a police official. The police said that the matter came to the knowledge of the victim girl's father after she fainted following a severe stomach ache on Sunday.
According to PTI, the victim was admitted to a private hospital, and after check-up the doctor told the girl's father that she was pregnant. The police said that when the girl's father asked her about the pregnancy, she said the accused visited their home for months during his absence. He then raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Masuri) Naresh Kumar said that the accused had been sexually assaulting her since that day, the girl's father said in his complaint. The girl, a Class 6 student, had been living with her father after her mother went back to her parental home following a dispute.
Based on the complaint registered by the girl's father, a case was registered against the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act on Monday, as reported by PTI. The girl has been sent for a medical examination, Kumar said. The accused was arrested on Monday and sent to jail, he further stated.

Earlier this month, UP police arrested a man in Aligarh for allegedly attempting to molest a minor girl, news agency ANI reported. A case was registered under relevant sections in the Iglas police station area of Aligarh in connection with an attempt to molest a girl, said CO Iglas Krishna Gopal Singh.
The police sprung into action immediately after receiving a complaint regarding the incident, the police official added. The official further informed that immediate action had been taken by arresting the man.
