Owaisi Meerut Visit: The campaigning for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections is in full swing. Today is expected to be a 'Super Saturday' of political rallies in UP. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is visiting Meerut today.
There was a scheduled program to address a public meeting at Nauchandi Ground in the city. However, till now the Meerut administration has not given permission for this public meeting. The party leaders have sat on a protest regarding this at Nauchandi police station.
Leaders Stage Sit-In
MIM workers had put up tents at the Nauchandi ground. During the night before the meeting of Asaduddin Owaisi, the police administration started removing the tents citing lack of permission. While protesting against this, former AIMIM mayor Majid Khan, UP state president Shaukat Ali and other party leaders sat on a protest.
Later the SP reached the spot and after which it was agreed to hold the meeting at another place. Earlier this public meeting was to be held at Nauchandi Ground.
Hyderabad's former mayor, Majid Hussain says that the police are under pressure from political parties to not allow the rally.
'Administration cannot allow'
At the same time, ADM City Diwakar Singh said on this matter that Nauchandi Maidan is the land of District Panchayat and Municipal Corporation. Therefore, before any public meeting or any other event, permission has to be taken from both these departments. If the program is not allowed from these two departments, then according to the rules, the administration cannot allow any program here.
Now it will be interesting to see what happens when Asaduddin Owaisin arrives in Meerut on Saturday. Majid Hussain said that even after not getting permission, Owaisi will definitely come to Meerut and people will be greeted by going door-to-door.
