New Delhi: Taking a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said SP had handed over to the state the mafias who ran the 'One district, one mafia' scheme. Addressing the state assembly’s budget session, he targeted the SP chief over the latter’s photo with an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case which went viral on the social media.

Attacking the Samajwadi Party, Yogi Adityanath said that keeping in mind each and every district of Uttar Pradesh, the government launched the 'One district, one product' scheme, which generated lakhs of employment opportunities and made the poor self-reliant. On the other hand, the previous Samajwadi Party government handed over the state to the mafias, ran the 'One district, one mafia' scheme, he said.

“Yesterday I saw that a pic of Prayagraj's incident accused is going viral. People will say it's an era of social media but (in the picture) there is a logo of your (SP) party, you can be seen shaking hands but still you are denying it,” news agency ANI quoted CM Yogi as saying.

“It is true you (Samajwadi Party) gave one district, one mafia to UP. Which district didn't have mafia? There were kinds of mafias in state, some were land mafia, forest mafia, cattle mafia. Everyone in the state knew well about it,” the chief minister added.

CM Yogi further slammed the Opposition saying tax evasion used to happen under the regime of previous governments, and that there are several examples of this, many reports, including that of CAG.

"These (Oppn parties) people used to say that if a Chief Minister will go to Noida, he would lose the election, the Leader of the Opposition had also accepted that he will not visit the city... but we proved this myth wrong,” he said.
