A constable lost his life after a police team was held captive and thrashed in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district when they arrived to crack down on the liquor mafia. The untoward incident took place in Nagla Dhimar village falling under the Sidhpura Police Station limits.


The police personnel posted in the nearby police stations reached the spot on hearing about the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police, Aditya Prakash Verma, who also visited the spot to take stock of the situation, confirmed about the incident. Verma said constable Devendra succumbed to his injuries while Sub-Inspector Ashok posted at Sidhpura Police Station sustained serious injuries.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the Kasganj incident and directed strict again against those involved.  The state government has also issued instructions for action to be initiated against the offenders under the National Security Act.


Expressing his condolences to the family members of the martyred constable, Adityanath announced financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh and a government job.


According to the Chief Minister's Office, Adityanath also said that his government is working on a policy of zero tolerance towards crime and criminals. The Chief Minister also issued instructions for immediate and strict action against the culprits involved without any compromise with regard to the law and order situation.
