New Delhi: The Haridwar Police have lodged a second FIR against 10 people connected with Dharma Sansad that was held in Haridwar last month where alleged hate speeches against Muslims were made by the participants. The second FIR, lodged at Jwalapur Police Station in Haridwar, was filed on the basis of a complaint lodged by a resident of the city, Nadeem Ali, according to the senior sub-inspector of Jwalapur, Nitesh Sharma.
Ten people named in this second FIR were the organisers of the event and included, Yati Narsimhanand Giri, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi aka Wasim Rizvi, Sindhu Sagar, Dharamdas, Parmananda, Sadhvi Annapurna, Anand Swaroop, Ashwini Upadhyay, Suresh Chahwan, and Prabodhanand Giri, Sharma said.
The official further informed that the FIR lodged at Jwalapur police station has been transferred to the city police station where the initial FIR was lodged in connection with the case.
A Special Investigation Team to probe the case was constituted on Sunday. The BJP-led government in Uttarakhand was under pressure from all quarters to take action against the alleged hate speeches against the Muslims in the purported Dharma Sansad that was held in Haridwar between December 16 and 19.
Muslim residents of Dehradun and Haridwar held protest marches on Friday and Saturday demanding immediate arrest of those who delivered the provocative speeches during the said event.
A five-member SIT was constituted Sunday to probe into the matter of the alleged hate speech during the Dharma Sansad. Garhwal Zone Deputy Inspector General (DIG) K.S. Nagnyal briefed in this regard and said that appropriate action will be taken against those involved.
