New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is on a three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh where the assembly election is scheduled to happen next year. The Chief Election Commissioner, Sushil Chandra along with a team of ECI members had arrived in Lucknow on Tuesday.
On the third and final day of the team’s visit, the Chief Election Commissioner along with the ECI team will meet the chief secretary and Director General of Police. The meeting will be followed by a press conference.
The meeting with the Chief Secretary and DGP will take place for around one hour from 10 am to 11 am. After the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner and the ECI team will hold a press conference from noon to 12:45 pm.

The ECI team arrived in UP to take stock of poll-related preparations. In this regard, on the second day of the visit on Wednesday, the team held a meeting with senior police officials and District Magistrates of all the 75 districts of the state.
All the DMs and SSPs from across the state were called to the state capital Lucknow Chief Election Commissioner and their team.
The ECI took election-related feedback in this meeting. Based on this feedback, a decision would be taken regarding the conduct of elections.
On the first day of the visit on Tuesday, the EC had a meeting with the National and regional political parties and other stakeholders.
In view of rising cases of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant, the Allahabad High Court had requested the Election Commission of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to postpone the upcoming Assembly elections.
