New Delhi: A man in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar admitted to having eaten spoons after 62 of them were operated out of his stomach. The 32-year-old, Vijay, underwent a 2-hour long operation on Tuesday after which he was transferred to the ICU, according to ANI.
When asked if he ate spoons, the man said he had been eating them for a year, Dr Rakesh Khurrana told ANI.
"We asked him if he ate those spoons & he agreed. The operation lasted for around 2 hours, he is currently in ICU. The patient has been eating spoons for 1 year", Dr Khurrana was quoted by ANI.

A similar case was reported in 2019, doctors removed eight spoons, two screwdrivers, two toothbrushes, a kitchen knife and a door latch from the stomach of a man in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
The 35-year-old man was admitted to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College with a stomach problem. He had complained of having a pimple in his stomach, however the doctors at a clinic in Sundernagar town found that there was a knife in his stomach. In the X-ray, it was found that there were several objects as well. A team of three surgeons conducted four-hour long surgery, and removed all the objects successfully.
The patient is affected with psychiatric illness as a normal person can't eat a spoon or knife, the doctors told ANI calling it a 'rare case'.
