Dr MW Khan, Medical Superintendent, ASMC Gonda said that four injured people, who were in critical condition have been referred to Lucknow Trauma Centre for further treatment. These four persons were in critical condition.
"Around 12 injured people were admitted to the district hospital. Out of those, four persons were in critical condition. After providing them with basic medical treatment, they have been referred to Lucknow in ambulances with life-support facility. At administration level, the arrangements were in Lucknow Trauma Centre and specialists are available there," he said.
The restoration work at the site near Gonda railway station hours after the tragic accident is being carried out in full swing.
After the derailment of the Dibrugarh- Chandigarh Express train, Rajasthan LoP, and Congress leader Tika Ram Jully blamed Centre's "negligence" for it.
"Highways and airports are collapsing and instances of train accidents are increasing. They (central government) made several big promises and even increased the fare. Recently, another train accident took place and they (central government) said that they will bring a system to stop train accidents. Still, this is the condition," he said.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted about the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express accident, saying "Shocked to learn about the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh train accident in UP today. I am monitoring the situation closely. No casualties from Assam reported as of now. Teams are on standby for support. We will do our best to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone."
The rescue operation after the coaches of the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express derailed today has been completed.
As per North Eastern Railway General Manager Saumya Mathur, 2 people died and 31 got injured.
Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai demanded the resignation of the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and said: "... This is a matter of investigation. Many train-related incidents have happened. Train accidents are happening continuously, people are losing their lives... If anyone is the biggest culprit, then it is the Railway Minister. The Railway Minister should resign...The families of the deceased should be given a compensation of at least Rs 50-50 lakh..."
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that the Gonda train accident is "very serious". Two people have lost their lives and 29 are injured. The injured are getting treated in the district hospital..."
A help desk has been set up at the Chandigarh railway station in view of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailment.
Ambala Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mandeep Singh Bhatia, on the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailment, said: "Today, some coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations. This (accident site) comes under Lucknow division of NER (North Eastern Railway)."
"The cause of derailment has not been established yet," he added.
The Ministry of Railways has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakhs for grievous injury, and Rs. 50,000 to the minor injured.
Apart from the CRS enquiry, a high-level probe has been ordered.
Dr Satya Narayan at PHC Mankapur said that all 25 patients brought there were treated. However, two-three patients who were critically injured were referred to Gonda district hospital.
A compensation of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for each of the families of those who died in the Gonda train accident. For the ones, who sustained grievous injuries, Rs 2.5 lakh each has been announced. Those who sustained minor injuries will get Rs 50,000, the Railway Ministry has said.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad of the Uttar Pradesh Police will probe the Dibrugarh train accident after the loco pilot claimed to have heard an explosion right before the train derailed. The ATS will probe if this was a case of sabotage.

UP SDRF personnel are conducting rescue operation in the derailed coaches of the Dibrugarh Express.
The Congress has offered to help in relief in rescue work in Gonda. "May God give peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured. All Congress workers are requested to extend their cooperation in relief and rescue work," Congress posted on X.
The Aam Aadmi Party has blamed the Narendra Modi government's "inefficiency" for the Gonda Train Accident. "Four people have died and several others injured after the Dibrugarh Express train derailed near Gonda railway station in Uttar Pradesh. In the Modi government, precious lives of people are being lost in train accidents continuously and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is busy making reels. After all, for how long will the people of the country continue to bear the brunt of the inefficiency of the Modi government," the AAP posted on X.

Taking cognizance of the train accident in Gonda district has directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and speed up the relief work. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them with proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been briefed about the derailment of the Dibrugarh - Chandigarh express in Uttar Pradesh. He is monitoring the situation and the Government of Assam is in touch with relevant authorities.

Gonda Train Accident: At least 8 coaches of the Dibrugarh Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda. The train was going from Chandigarh to Assam's Dibrugarh. Three persons have died in the accident, while 30 sustained injuries, confirmed UP Health Minister and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. The incident occurred in the Mankapur Vidhan Sabha area.

Meanwhile, reacting to the incident, Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma and his UP counterpart Yogi Adityanath have ordered their officials to provide immediate relief to the people injured in the accident. While Yogi Adityanath has asked all government hospitals in the region to be prepared to take in the injured for treatment, Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered his officials to ensure that victims from Assam receive proper treatment.
The accident comes within just a month of the Sealdah-Agartala Kanchanjunga Express accident, which claimed 11 lives.
The AAP, meanwhile, has claimed that railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was busy making reels as people lost lives in train accidents. It said that the Modi government's "inefficiency" was responsible for the deaths of people.

Relief Work Underway
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak will visit the accident site soon. While SDRF teams are already at the site of the accident, NDRF teams are being sent from Lucknow and Balrampur to Gonda for the rescue and relief operation.
A 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances have been deployed for rescue operations in the train accident and orders have been issued to send more ambulances to the spot.
A special train has been arranged for the stranded passengers. The special train will take them to Dibrugarh in Assam now.
