New Delhi: Six people were reported dead while 15 were injured after a bus collided with a speeding truck on the Lucknow-Bahraich highway in Uttar Pradesh, said SHO Rajesh Singh, reported news agency ANI. Confirming the same, District Magistrate, Dinesh Chandra Singh said that the accident took place at about 4:30 am in an area on Jarwal Road when the Lucknow depot bus was hit by the truck, as per a report by news agency PTI.
Six persons died on the spot and 15 who were injured were rushed to a hospital, where the condition of four was stated to be critical, Singh said, adding that deceased were yet to be identified.
The bus was going to Rupaideeha from Lucknow, while the truck was on its way to Lucknow from Bahraich, Singh said. The truck driver managed to flee from the spot with the vehicle.

The Police have launched a probe and searching for the absconding truck driver with the help of CCTV footages from nearby areas.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief over the loss of lives and directed the district magistrate and sneior Police officials to reach the spot at the earliest. He has also directed that proper medical treatment of the injured be done.
