PBKS vs SRH, IPL 2024 HIGHLIGHTS: Hyderabad Beat Punjab By 2 Runs
PBKS vs SRH HIGHLIGHTS: Hyderabad beat Punjab by 2 runs in what turned out to be a thriller with PBKS scoring 26 runs off the final over yet falling short.
It's a last-ball six then from Shashank but PBKS lose by 2 runs. SRH have managed to hold on to a win. 26 runs coming off that final over but ultimately the Pat Cummins-led side get the two points.
Catch is dropped but just a single. So 9 needed off 1.
More drama. It's a wide again and the equation now 10 needed off 2 deliveries.
11 Needed Off 2 then. 10 for a Super Over. Ashutosh on strike. He is batting on 32* off 14.
Stop what you are doing as there is life alive in this game. Ashutosh gets the second six over long off. Bit of help from the fielder.
A six and two wides. It's Unadtkat who will be facing the pressure. 5 balls, 21 needed.
PBKS need 29 runs form 6 balls. Possible but less likely at this stage. But who knows? Will we see a Rinku Singh today?
Successive Fours from Ashutosh Sharma but at this stage it's still less than the required run rate. PBKS get 11 runs off the over. They are 144/6 after 18 overs. They need 39 runs from 12 balls.
17 runs off the 17th over. Are PBKS still alive in this game? Three boundaries in that Bhuvi over from Shashank Singh. PBKS- 133/6. They need 50 runs from 18 balls.
Ashutosh Sharma joins Shashank.
And there's another wicket! Nitish Reddy had conceded a six a previous ball but the very next ball he gets the better of Jitesh Sharma. Trying to go for the big one, finds the fielder. Jitesh falls for 19 off 11. PBKS- 114/6 after 15.3 Overs.
First a six-run over from Unadkat before Natarajan concedes 8 runs off his third. After 14 overs, PBKS- 105/5. They need 78 runs from 30 balls.
Sikandar Raza departs. It's Unadkat who gets the wicket. Raza tries to find the boundary early on in the 14th over but there is lack of pace on that ball which means he can only manage to scoop it up in the air. Klaasen completes the catch. PBKS- 91/5 after 13.1 Overs.
And a boundary off the bat of Shashanl Singh to end the 13th over. PBKS- 91/4. Need 92 runs from 42 balls. Cummins completes his third over. 1/11 so far. TIME OUT!
Raza is making an impact in this match. 6 off the first ball of the 11th over bowled by Unadkat, 6 off the fourth ball of the 12th over which was delivered by Shahbaz. 18 runs off the last 2 overs. PBKS- 84/4. They Need 99 runs from 48 balls.
At the 10 over mark, PBKS find themselves at 66/4.
It's that hard length again which does the trick on this surface. Outside off and Curran looks to clear mid off but does not get the needed connection. Blinder of a catch from Pat Cummins at mid off. Curran falls for 29 off 22. SRH- 58/4 after 9.1 Overs.
Curran finds the boundary in that over. He got the short and wide ball and sent that for a massive six. 9 runs off 9th over. PBK- 58/3 after 9 overs.
Unadkat into the attack. He concedes 9 runs off his 1st. First six of the innings in that over with Curran middling a pull to perfection first ball. PBKS- 49/3 after 8 overs. TIME OUT!
3 Boundaries coming off the over then. First off the bat of Curran before successive boundaries off the bat of Nitish Kumar Reddy ended the over. They are still in the game. PBKS- 40/3 after 7 overs. They need 143 runs from 78 balls.
Double bowling change then for SRH. T Nataraj replaces Cummins. Nitish in for Bhuvi. At the end of powerplay, PBKS- 27/3. Nitish bowling the 7th over.
Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran out in the middle for PBKS.
Bhuvi has a wicket to his name. It's Dhawan who was dropped earlier in the over but is out stumped. Klassen was up to the stumps and Dhawan decided to go down the track but missed one altogether. Great bit of glovework from the Protean to get rid of PBKS captain. Superb start this from SRH. PBKS- 20/3 after 4.4 Overs.
No bowling change yet. Bhuvi and Cummins continuing. Into the 5th over.
PBKS had already got two boundaries off this over. First Shikhar Dhawan and then Prabhsimran Singh but the latter looking to play one shot on the leg side is deceived by the ball which moves away and only manages the outside half of the bat. The ball goes up in the air and Nitish Reddy takes a fine catch. PBKS- 11/2 after 3 overs.
Impact Sub Prabhsimran Singh comes in at 3 for PBKS.
And Bairstow falls for a duck. This has been a great start by SRH with the ball. First a maiden over by Bhuvi before Bairstow got one ball on a hard length which Bairstow looked to heave it over on side but made no connection whatsoever. Cummins hits the target. PBKS- 2/1 after 1.4 Overs. Only 1 run off the bat so far.
Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow in the middle for PBKS. They need 183 to win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball in hand for SRH.
Strange innings this. PBKS dominated the first half. None of the SRH big guns fired with the bat. However, despite that led by Nitish Kumar Reddy's 64 off 37 and a couple of cameos, SRH have managed to post a competitive 182/9 after 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 29. Harshal Patel (2/30) was also impressive. Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran were the other wicket-takers. Will be back with the chase.
Top over from Curran to finish it off. 1,1,1,W and 6 to end the innings. Last ball should have been a catch but it's dropped and it goes over the ropes for a six. Unadkat gets 6 runs to his name as SRH manage 182/9. Harshal the fielder who palmed that ball over the ropes. PBKS need 183 to win.
Curran has the ball in hand for the 20th over.
15 Runs Off The 19th Over. Shahbaz Ahmed finding a FOUR and A SIX in Arshdeep's final over. Despite all the wickets, SRH find themselves at 171/8 after 19 overs.
Shahbaz Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the Hyderabad batters out in the middle.
It's Rabada this time who rattles the top of off stump for SRH captain Pat Cummins. The Aussie falls for 3 off 4. SRH- 155/8 after 17.3 Overs.
Two wickets in the over from Arshdeep. He sees the back of both the set batters. It's a full toss that Reddy wants to hit for a six but doesn't get the desired connection. It's out at long off. SRH- 151/7 after 16.5 overs.
He might have gotten hit off a boundary off his first ball of the over but the third ball Arshdeep bowls one ball wide and outside off, tempting Samad to go for the shot which he does which is precisely where the fielder was there. Fielder accepts the catch. Samad out for 25 off 12. SRH- 150/6 after 16.3 Overs.
Usually used at the death, Harshal has bowled out at the 16-over mark itself. 13 runs coming off the 16th over including two boundaries from Samad. SRH- 146/5 after 16 overs. TIME OUT!
Nitish Reddy has upped the ante and how. He reaches his half-century in this over. He goes FOUR, SIX, FOUR, SIX, TWO after the first ball was a dot. 22 runs off the over. SRH- 133-5 after 15 overs. Brar finishes with 4 overs, none for 48.
Back-To-Back Boundaries for new man in Abdul Samad. His shots help SRH fetch 11 runs off the 14th over. SRH- 111/5 after 14 overs.
Harshal has returned for a third over and he has taken the big wicket of Heinrich Klaasen. It's a length ball that seems to get stuck in the surface and Klaseen looks to go for a straight six, ends up mistiming it. It's caught at long off as Heinrich Klaasen falls for 9 off 9. SRH- 100/5 after 13.1 Overs.
Finally seems like SRH are taking the attack to the opposition. SRH- 81/4 after 11 overs. Harpreet Brar's most expensive over this season. He goes for 15. A six and four off the bat of Reddy before a boundary off the bat of Klaasen to end over number 11.
PBKS strike again. It's Harshal who has returned for a second over and made an instant impact. Slower short-pitch ball and as Tripathi looks to play an upper-cut, he only manages an edge that goes through to the keeper. Another one which was given not out but PBKS make amends and take a right review. Tripathi falls for 11 off 14. SRH- 64/4 after 9.4 Overs.
And it's the first time out of the match then. Brar finishes a 5-run over. SRH- 61/3 after 9 overs. Surely, PBKS' match so far. Nitish Kumar Reddy- 11* off 14, Rahul Tripathi- 10* off 12.
First boundary for Reddy. SRH fetch 9 runs off the over. SRH- 56/3 after 8 overs.
For PBKS, it is Harpreet Brar who comes into attack. Concedes 7 runs off his 1st over, including a boundary off the bat of Tripathi. SRH- 47/3 after 7 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rahul Tripathi out in the middle for Hyderabad.
Harshal Patel concedes just 1 run off the final over of the powerplay. SRH- 40/3 after 6 overs. SRH have made been forced to make an Impact Sub first half itself. Rahul Tripathi comes in place of Head.
It was the last ball of the 5th over and Abhishek had already scored a SIX and a FOUR but he comes down the track against Curran to play a fancy shot but only manages a toe edge which Shashank Singh takes a fine catch. Abhishek fall for 16 of 11. 11 runs and 1 wicket off the fifth over then. SRH- 39/3 after 5 overs.
Aiden Markram out for a duck! Two wickets in four balls. Arshdeep again. It's an edge that goes straight to the keeper. Brilliant bowling from Arshdeep. SRH- 27.2 after 3.4 overs after Aiden Markram out for duck.
Head falls. He cannot convert this into a massive total and gets out for 21. He gets a ball angling across from Arshdeep but only manages to sky it and eventually Dhawan takens a good running catch. SRH- 27/1after 3.2 overs.
Head is making Punjab pay so far. He now smashes Rabada for three boundaries in a row. SRH get 16 runs off the over. SRH 26-0 after 3 overs.
Abhishek Sharma goes up and over off a delivery outside off to get the boundary of the over. Overall, 6 runs off the over. SRH- 10/0 after 2 overs.
Dramatic start to this fixture in Mullanpur. An edge off Head that is taken by the keeper first up but umpire gives it not out and the fielding team doesn't go for the Decision Review System (DRS). Replays later confirm had PBKS opted for a review, it would have ben a wicket first ball. Third ball of the over, Rabada produces the edge but it goes over slip for a boundary. That's the only scoring short off the over. SRH- 4/0 after the 1st over.
It's that attacking duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma who are out to open for SRH. Kagiso Rabada will bowl the first over for the very first time in IPL 2024.

Background
PBKS vs SRH LIVE SCORE: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of IPL 2024 match number 23 being played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Mullanpur. It's a mid-table clash of the season with both teams with almost identical numbers on the points tally. Both the sides have 4 points from 4 matches. However, SRH's net run rate (NRR) is better than that of PBKS which is why they find themselves at the fifth place, compared to Punjab's sixth position.

While PBKS won by 3 wickets and a ball remaining, SRH were dominant in the manner in which they got the better of CSK. Having said that, SRH's batting and approach has looked threatening and they have already posted the highest total in IPL history this season. How their batters adapt to what will be a new venue for them will be interesting to see.
Punjab will be hosting this game and their team would now have a fair idea of how to go abou their business at this venue. A big innings from Shikhar Dhawan at the top is due and the southpaw will be desperate to make a contribution. As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, the two teams have squared off 21 times with SRH coming out on top 14 times and PBKS winning the other 7 matches.
