Unfortunately for his opening partner Rohit Sharma, he got caught on the boundary off Khary Pierre delivery as he tried to hit a flick shot over the boundary but at the end fell short.

A fiery batting performance from the Windies batsmen helped them set India a mammoth target of 208 runs to win the first T20I of the three-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. A very important cameo from Jason Holder in the end ensured that the hosts have a tough total to chase and that the Windies bowlers face no pressure while executing their plans.
After a dropped chance, leggie Chahal gets two back-to-back wickets in form of Pollard and Hetmyer. Rohit Sharma took a good catch near the boundary to get rid of Hetmyer for 56 off 41 balls. Just a ball later, Chahal ended Windies skipper Pollard’s entertaining innings by dismissing him for a 19-ball 37.
Explosive Windies batsman Shimron Hetmyer is playing a critical with the bat as he scores his maiden T20I fifty, courtesy Washington Sundar, who dropped his catch to deny team India its fourth wicket. However, senior player Rohit Sharma was seen backing the young lad. The on-air commentators suggest that Sundar might have failed to grab the catch off Hetmyer’s top-edge as he probably would have lost the ball in the floodlights.

Irrespective of losing two hard-hitting batsmen, the Windiesbatting line-up looked in no mood to slow down as they smashed the Indian bowlersto almost all parts of the ground to put 100 on the scoreboard after 10 overs. 'SirJadeja' then got the big breakthrough to stop the flow of runs by getting King stumpedoff the very first ball of the 11th over after a well-made 31. Post King’s departure,Windies skipper - the danger man - Kieron Pollard is the next batsman to walk into bat. Can India stop Windies from putting a huge total ?
Despite losing Simmons early, West Indies managed to score 19-runs per over as they raced to 57 for loss of one wicket after first five overs. Washington Sundar emerged as the hero for his squad in the eventful powerplay by getting the much-needed wicket. Sundar stopped the leaking run tap by putting an end to the fiery innings of Evin Lewis (40 off 17 balls) as he trapped him in front of the wickets for a LBW.
