India opened their World Cup campaign with a thumping win over South Africa at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday. Faf Du Plessis won the toss and  elected to bat first. South Africa could only manage to score 227 runs as the Indian bowlers consistently picked up wickets to make inroads into their batting lineup.
