IND vs NZ, 1st Test HIGHLIGHTS: Play Called Off At Wellington Due To Incessant Rains

New Zealand had the better of Team India earlier in the day but Ajinkya Rahane (38*) led the fightback for the visitors and is looking solid. Rishabh Pant is alongside him unbeaten on 10.

Rain washed out the entire third session after India was asked to bat first in the first of the two-match Test series in Wellington. At Stumps, which the umpires were forced to call early, India were 122/5 after 55 overs with Rahane and Rishabh Pant batting on 38 and 10, respectively. Debutante Kyle Jamieson picked three wickets for the home side.




For Kiwis, Jamieson with 3-38 so far has been the pick of the bowlers. Southee and Boult are the other wicket takers.

Mayank Agarwal is now the 1st Indian opener to survive 1st session of a Test in New Zealand in 30 years!




Mayank Agarwal, who scored 29 not out off 67 balls before getting out, has now become the only the second Indian opener to survive the first session of a Test match in New Zealand.




The young opener, who recently celebrated his 29th birthday, emulated a feat which was first achieved by Manoj Prabhakar in 1990.
The rain stopped the Day 1 game of IND vs NZ 1st Test at Wellington and the covers remain at the Basin Reserve.




An inspection will take place at 10am IST.

Kiwi debutant and young speedster Kyle Jamieson departed Virat Kohli for 2 on day 1 of IND vs NZ 1st Test at Wellington. The Indian captain has now gone 19 international innings without scoring a century. Skipper Kohli last scored a century (136) vs Bangladesh in November 2019.
New Zealand's leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs - Ross Taylor has become the first player ever to play 100 matches in all the three formats of the game. The senior batsman attained the feat during India vs New Zealand 1st Test at the Basin Reserve at Wellington.




Besides Taylor, McCullum, Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori have played 101, 111, and 112 Tests respectively for New Zealand.

Background

New Delhi: Team India will be looking to get their campaign back on track in the ICC Test Championship as take on Bout-led Kiwi bowling attack in the two-match Test series at Wellington.

At Lunch on Day 1 of the 1st Test, the Indian team have lost the wickets of Shaw, Pujara and Kohli in the first session. Post Lunch, Boult departs Mayank Agarwal, after he scored a hard-fought 34.
