Ravichandran Ashwin smashed a crucial half-century after Virat Kohli’s 121-run innings and Ravindra Jadeja’s 61, helping India post 438 in their 1st innings against West Indies.
Holder cleaned up Ishan Kishan and an easy catch by Joshua Da Silva made sure that it's a breakthrough. It was a length delivery by Holder and Ishan was caught fishing outside off delivery.
Roach took the wicket of Jadeja and an easy catch by Joshua Da Silva did the rest. Jadeja went for a booming drive but ended up getting caught by the keeper.
Kohli departed after a well-made 121 runs. Kohli defended the ball and tried to take a single but then Joseph stepped in from square leg and hit the bullseye.
Virat Kohli got his 29th Test hundred in style and raised his bat towards the Indian dressing room. Gabriel bowled a length delivery and Kohli placed it well and got a boundary.
The Indian batters are playing patiently and Kohli is on 90, eyeing yet another hundred in the red ball format.
The visitors have again provided a strong start to their team in the same manner as of the first Test in Dominica. West Indies did make a comeback in the noon session when they picked up four wickets.

The Indian team dominated most of the sessions of Day 1 of the ongoing second Test against West Indies where Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored fifty runs each. However, Windies did make a comeback in the second session by picking crucial wickets at the right moments. Just after the tea, Virat and Jadeja batted and remained unbeaten at the stumps on Day 1. The former India skipper is close to getting another century in red bank format while Jadeja looks solid at the other end.
Skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came up with brilliant fifties, putting up a 139-run partnership for 1st wicket is now the third-highest opening partnership for visiting duo at Port of Spain, Trinidad. Post winning the first Test match, Rohit Sharma’s men will be looking for a whitewash against West Indies in the second and final match of the series starting Thursday.
This ongoing game also marked the 100th Test between the two teams and India skipper Rohit Sharma said it will be a big event and his team will look to dominate the West Indies like it did in the series opener in Dominica.
