Background
IND vs IRE, 2nd T20I LIVE: The first T20I of the three-match IND vs IRE T20I series was all about Jasprit Bumrah's comeback. And boy did India's captain on this tour deliver. He picked up two wickets in his first over on return and rocked the Irish side on the backfoot. Eventually, he was adjudged the Player of the Match as India beat Ireland by 2-run in the rain-affected series opener. However, the team would now look to start afresh with more focus on their batting which only 6.5 overs to prove themselves at the Village in Dublin.
As far as the hosts Ireland are concerned, despite the early wickets it was their lower-order batting which helped them make a comeback of sorts. Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker none of them got going and would need to put on a better show. Curtis Campher did chip in with a 39 but it was really the 51 off 33 from Barry McCarthy, batting at number 8, that made a difference for the Irish side.
From India, eyes will be on Ruturaj Gaikwad. He was involved in a mix-up in the second over of the team's run-chase which he survived and eventually ended up remaining unbeaten on 19 before rain played no further play possible. With the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star set to lead India in Asian Games, he would want to make the most of this opportunity before wanting to win a medal for the nation.
All in all, it should be an interesting game this and as the 1st match showed, could even turn out to be a close one, given the nature of T20I cricket.
