India tour of Australia: Cricket Australia has unveiled the venues for the forthcoming IND vs AUS five-match Test series, scheduled for November-December this year. India vs Australia Test series holds significance in light of the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 Final. The opening match, IND vs AUS 1st Test, is slated to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth, ANI reported.
During a recent Test match between Australia and Pakistan at Perth Stadium, there was a noticeable lack of spectators. However, Cricket Australia has reaffirmed its dedication to working closely with Western Australia to improve fan engagement and increase attendance numbers at Perth Stadium.
As per the ANI report, enhancing Test cricket in Perth has been a key objective for the governing body. Despite the new 60,000-seat Perth Stadium struggling to attract spectators during Test matches in past seasons, it witnessed significant attendance during Perth Scorchers' Big Bash League matches. The highest attendance recorded at the stadium was during a Perth Scorchers BBL match, with 28,494 spectators, while the lowest attendance was observed during the Test series against Pakistan, with 17,666 spectators.
India and England are scheduled to tour Australia over the next two years, a move expected to boost viewership figures for Test matches in Perth. The IND vs AUS Test series itinerary includes Adelaide Oval as venue for the second Test match, followed by the third IND vs AUS Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.
The prestigious Boxing Day Test (ND vs AUS 4th Test) is set to take place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, while the series concludes with the final match (IND vs AUS 5th Test) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Cricket Australia is yet to unveil the schedule for the upcoming season, with an announcement expected by the end of the month. However, the board has provided comprehensive details regarding the Men's and Women's Big Bash League for the forthcoming season. A Cricket Australia spokesperson informed the Sydney Morning Herald that the schedule is still being finalized.
