India outplayed Australia by 99 runs on the basis of the DLS method. It was Gill, Iyer, Kl Rahul, and Suryakumar who put up batting heroics for the Indian team while Indian spinners Jadeja and Ashwin were the stars with the ball, picking up three wickets each.
Despite losing eight wickets, Hazlewood and Abbott are slogging hard to keep their side's hope alive. But things are still difficult for them since India are just two wickets away from a win.
Just after the play started after a rain break, Australia lost three quick wickets. The Indian bowlers are in a haste to finish the game.
The match will resume at 20:35 local time. Since the rain took place, on the basis of the DLS method, Australia has been given a revised target of 317 in 33 overs.

Prasidh strikes again and gets big fish this time. He took the wicket of Steve Smith by bowling a length delivery. Smith looked to hit it hard and ended up getting a thick outside edge.
Prasidh Krishna came with a first breakthrough. It was a length ball and Short wanted to play a free-flowing drive but ended up edging it towards Ashwin who was placed at third man and he took a great catch.
Matthew Short and Warner have started the run chase for Australia. Shami bowled the first over for India.
After Gill and Iyer's centuries with the bat, it was skipper KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav who put up a late blitz for the Indian team. Both batters went on to score their respective half-centuries and helped India post a massive total of 399/5 in 50 overs.

Ishan Kishan welcomed Zampa with a straight six but then got out on the very next delivery. It was a wrong one bowled by Zampa and Ishan was looking to play the similar shot that he played on the first ball. But this time, he could not time it well, played it in the air and Carey took a brilliant catch.
Shubman Gill got out after a brilliant century. It was Green who bowled a length delivery and Gill wanted to hit it big but ended up with a leading edge.
Abbott took the prized wicket of Shreyas Iyer who departed after a well-made century. He was looking to hit it big on the leg side but then miscued it. Matthew Short grabbed a good catch at the end.
100 for Shreyas Iyer. What a comeback as he came out to play for India after a long injury hiatus. Played like a true champion.
Shreyas Iyer reached his fifty in style. It was a slower ball by Spencer Johnson and Iyer stood tall and smashed it over long-off.
Half-century comes up for Gill. He continues his remarkable record and completes his 50 in the 14th over. Reached there off 37 balls. India are 106/1 after 13.1 overs.
IND- 80/1 after 10 overs.
Play has resumed after the rain-break. Gill and Iyer who looked in sublime nick might take a few minutes to get their eye in again before regaining that rhythm.
That was some brisk start by India before the rain arrived in Indore. India are 79/1 in 9.5 overs with Gill batting on 32 off 27 and Iyer not out on 34 from 20 balls.
Shreyas Iyer has walked out at number 3 and has played of confident looking strokes already.

Background
India is all set to take on Australia in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. While the Men in Blue stitched a five-wicket win against the Kangaroos in the series opener in Mohali, once again focus will be on the boxes unchecked before the World Cup. While the half-century by Suryakumar Yadav was a massive plus in the last game, there are two key areas which the management would be focusing on.
The first will be the form of Shreyas Iyer. Returning from a long injury layoff, the right-handed batter in India's Group stage fixture against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 until he played a well-timed stroke staight to the fielder. However, he then picked up a back spasm and KL Rahul made the most of the opportunity he got in Iyer's place. With the big guns resting in this match, this should be Iyer's turn to make a solid case for himself ahead of the World Cup.
The other, of course, will be the form Ravichandran Ashwin. He was economical and picked up a wicket in the opening game and more eyses will be on him. He even practiced batting after the match suggesting that the management may have had a word with him to be ready as the team might need him to chip in with the bat, if he is being considered in place of an injured Axar Patel in the squad. Washington Sundar is also being considered for that role and the team has to find a way to slot him in before they make that call.
As far as Australia is concerned, they too would look to try and test their combinations. With all-rounder Marcus Stoinis unlikely to play back-to-back games in a short turnaround, Aaron Hardie could replace him. Josh Hazelwood could also return and if the visitors don't mind that combination then the pacer could even take the place of Stoinis. Australia too will still be away from their best possible XI ahead of the World Cup.
All in all, things look set for a great game of cricket with so much to look forward to as KL Rahul-led India take on Pat Cummins' Australia in Indore which is a high-scoring ground.
