Hello and welcome everyone to our live coverage of the IND vs AFG 2nd T20I at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India are 1-0 up in the three-match series. Can they clinch the series or will it be Afghanistan who will stun the hosts as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma reunite in T20Is after 14 months? Let's find out.
Background
IND vs AFG 2nd T20I: India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan which happens to be their last assignment in T20 Internationals before the T20 World Cup. While the first T20I marked the return of Rohit Sharma into the T20 scheme of things, after missing out on the series opener in Mohali due to personal reason, Rohit and Virat Kohli will be in the same T20I side for the first time since November 2022.
Who then makes way for Kohli in the Playing 11 will be one of the several questions that the team will have to answer for themselves. Rohit Sharma got run out for a duck in the first T20I and he would be eager to score some runs on a wicket where he has the joint-fastest T20I hundred at the Holkar Stadium, a feat he achieved against Sri Lanka.
It is expected to be a belter of a surfaced and Kohli's batting position will also be interesting to see. While there is a school of thought which suggests that Kohli should open with Rohit, others reckon Kohli should continue to bat at number 3. The thought of the team management though will be revealed once India come out to bat in Indore.
On the other hand, this is for the first time Afghanistan have travelled for a T20I series in India and have a lot to take from this series. Whether they manage to make India work hard for a win or even go on to upset the hosts could be a massive result for them. They have the depth in their batting and the spin attack but can they all fire together to achieve their maiden win over India in a T20I? Let's find out.
Action commences at 07:00 pm (IST).
Probable Playing 11s:
India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal/Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav/Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar/Avesh Khan
Afghanistan: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Hazratullah Zazai/Rahmat Shah, Ibrahim Zadran (captain), Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi
