CWG 2022: The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held in Birmingham, England this year. This will be the 22nd edition of the multi-sport global event. The event will see 72 countries, and around 5000 athletes compete for the honour of standing on the podium and seeing their national flag rise. The event will commence with an opening ceremony and around 30,000 spectators are expected to be there. The event will be headlined by the music band Duran Duran, which is based out of the city of Birmingham only.


The Opening ceremony will miss the presence of Queen Elizabeth of England, who has decided to skip the event. In her absence, his son Prince Charles will be attending the event.


India will be one of the major contenders for medals at the event. There will be around 200 Indian Contingents contesting for medals at the mega event. There is an uncertain condition of Neeraj Chopra being present as the flag-bearer for the country as his presence is in doubt as it has not been confirmed. PV Sindhu was the flag-bearer for the country in Gold Coast 2018. The Birmingham Games will commence from July 28 and will end on August 8.
