Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). However, the decision has faced strong opposition from the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, which has expressed its displeasure over the move. The organization has announced its intention to challenge the UCC implementation in court. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also voiced its concerns, calling the move against Sharia law and religious practices. The IUML questioned the rationale behind implementing UCC, alleging that it promotes discrimination under the guise of uniformity. They further warned of a possible movement against the policy, citing it as a threat to religious rights and individual freedoms. The opposition parties have vowed to continue their fight against the UCC, seeking legal and political avenues to overturn the decision.
