Stroke Is Fourth Leading Cause Of Death In India, Global Cases Projected To Increase By 50 Per Cent By 2050

Stroke: In high-income countries, there has been a decrease in stroke incidence by 42 per cent during the past four decades. In low-income countries, there has been an increase of 100 per cent. The incidence of stroke in India is between 105 to 152 per 100,000 population per year.

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and the fifth leading cause of disability in India, according to a February 2022 study published in the International Journal of Stroke.
