Dessert Diwali Recipe 2025: Know How To Prepare 'Motichoor Ke Laddoo'
Celebrate Diwali with the traditional Motichoor Ke Laddoo; soft, sweet, and vibrant laddoos made from tiny gram flour pearls, perfect for festive celebrations and puja.
Ingredients
- 200 Gram Gram Flour: For Batter
- 300 Milliliter Water
- 2 Pinch Food Colour (Orange): For Sugar Syrup
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 2 Tablespoon Hot Water: For Cooking & Shaping
- 2 Tablespoon Ghee
- 4 Teaspoon Melon Seeds
- Silver Vark: For Garnishing
- Pistachios (Chopped)
Main Procedure
Prepare the Batter: Place a sieve over a large mixing bowl and sift in the gram flour. Gradually add water while whisking continuously to form a smooth, lump-free, and thin batter. Once ready, transfer the batter into a piping bag and secure the open end with a knot.
Fry the Motis: Heat oil in a deep pan until moderately hot. Cut a very fine tip on the piping bag. Hold it over the hot oil and gently squeeze the batter to drop tiny pearls directly into the oil. Fry them on a medium flame until they turn light golden brown.
Once fried, remove the pearls using a ladle into a sieve. Shake gently to drain excess oil. Transfer them to a tissue-lined bowl. Repeat until all the batter is used and allow them to cool completely.
Prepare the Sugar Syrup: In a bowl, combine food colour and water, stirring to dissolve the colour. In a pan, add sugar along with the coloured water. Cook on a high flame, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
Combine Motis with Sugar Syrup: Add the cooled fried motis to the sugar syrup and mix well. Place the pan on low flame and cook until the pearls absorb all the syrup. If the mixture seems too dry, add a tablespoon of hot water. Once absorbed, turn off the flame, cover, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Add Ghee & Melon Seeds: Transfer the mixture to a large bowl. Add melted ghee and melon seeds, mixing gently. Let the mixture cool to room temperature before shaping.
Shape the Laddus: Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into round laddus with your hands. Continue until all the mixture is shaped. Garnish with silver varak and chopped pistachios if desired.
