The delegation of I.N.D.I.A. alliance submitted a memorandum to Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey today, requesting her to restore peace & harmony, taking all effective measures.
"You are also requested to apprise the Union Government of the complete breakdown of law and order in Manipur for the last 89 days so as to enable them to intervene in the precarious situation in Manipur to restore peace and normalcy," the memorandum reads.
Congress MP Phulodevi Netam, a part of the I.N.D.I.A. delegation that is on a visit to Manipur, says, "...400-500 people are staying in one hall. The State Govt is providing them only daal-chawal, children are not getting anything else to eat the entire day. There is no toilet or bathroom facility. The manner in which people are living in camps is very heart-rending..."

After we spoke with her, she herself expressed her pain and grief. During this two-day visit, whatever we witnessed, whatever experience we gained - she agreed to what we said. She also suggested that together we hold talks with the leaders of all communities and find a solution. She also suggested that both the Opposition and Ruling Party should together send an all-party delegation to Manipur and talk to leaders of all communities which is essential to resolve the sense of distrust among the people."

"The government will provide compensation to people who have lost members of their family and suffered loss of property. I will do everything possible for peace and the future of the people of Manipur," the Governor said, as quoted by ANI.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said, "Manipur has been burning for the last 75 days...The atrocities against women & deaths in the state will only tarnish the country's image. In such a situation the govt should have taken some action," as quoted by ANI.

A delegation of 20 MPs from the Opposition bloc INDIA will pay a two-day visit to violence-hit Manipur starting Saturday. The delegation will take stock of the ground situation and then make recommendations to the government and Parliament for a solution, news agency PTI reported. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi Friday, Congress MP Naseer Hussain said the leaders from 16 parties will visit the affected areas and meet people both in the valley and the hills. They will also visit two relief camps and assess the situation.
Manipur is on the boil after a video showing two tribal women from a particular community being paraded naked went viral. The issue has led to nationwide outrage, with Opposition parties demanding the resignation of Manipur CM Biren Singh. The video, which was shot on May 4, a day after clashes broke out between the Meitei and Kuki tribes over the Meiteis' demand for Scheduled Tribes (ST) status, surfaced on Wednesday.
The video shows two women being paraded naked in Kangpokpi district in Manipur, which has been hit by ethnic violence. The main accused was arrested from Thoubal district. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said strict action would be taken against all the perpetrators and the government was considering the possibility of capital punishment.
