The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Mumbai centre has issued an 'orange' alert for the Maharashtra capital and neighbouring Thane and Raigad districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places on Tuesday, a civic official said. Most parts of the city witnessed overcast sky, but no rain since early Tuesday morning, reported PTI.
The Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued an orange alert for all the coastal districts and Malnad region in Karnataka, predicting heavy rains in the next 24 hours. Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts will receive moderate to heavy spells of rain, accompanied by gusty winds, it said. There will be a temporary disruption of electricity in some areas and possible damage to roads, weak structures and uprooting of trees, authorities said. According to reports, so far four people have died in rain-related incidents in the state, reported PTI.

Delhi and parts of Noida on Tuesday received fresh rainfall amid a rise in the water level of Yamuna.
The present level of Yamuna River water at Old Railway Bridge (ORB) at 9:00 PM on 24/07/2023 is 206.04 Meters. As per latest Forecast issued by Central Water Commission (CWC) on 24.07.2023 at 08:30 PM, the water level at Old Railway Bridge (ORB) is expected to be at 205.75 Meters on 25.07.2023 between 1 AM to 3 AM, & thereafter, it is likely to decrease, reported ANI.
Nagaratna, Director at Metrological Centre, Hyderabad told ANI, "A red alert has been issued for Telangana on July 25, 26 & 27. On 25 July, Telangana is likely to receive extremely heavy Rainfall over the eastern districts. Hyderabad and adjoining districts are likely to have very heavy rainfall...Thereafter the system is likely to move west northwestwards and there will be a reduction in rainfall July 28 onwards."
Due to incessant rain, many low-lying areas are waterlogged in Karnataka's Mangaluru. Agricultural fields are flooded, and people are using boats to move from one place to another.
IMD has issued a red alert in Dakshina Kannada district.

Three people lost their lives on Sunday in various incidents related to rain as downpours lashed parts of Kerala. Two minor boys, Hadhi and Hashir from Wayanad district lost their lives on Sunday after they suspectedly fell into a water body while on their way to tuition class. A youngster drowned in Thrissur district on Sunday, reported PTI.

Around 50 tourists who got stranded due to the flooding of a seasonal stream following heavy rain in this Uttarakhand district have been rescued safely, officials said on Monday. The tourists got stranded in the Sitapur area, near Dhanolti, on Sunday as the water level of the Maundkhala seasonal stream swelled all of a sudden due to heavy rain in the hills, damaging a temporary bridge over it, Dhanolti Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lakshmi Raj Chauhan said. However, all of them were rescued safely by police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, who rushed to the spot immediately, Chauhan added. Revenue officers have been directed to make public announcements, asking people not to go near water bodies amid rain, he said, as per PTI.

The Yamuna river in Delhi was overflowing at 206.56 metres at 7 am on Monday (July 24), reported Central Water Commission. Following this rise, Northern Railway suspended the working of the old Yamuna bridge (Old Loha Pul) at 10:15 pm on Sunday. The statement added that the train movement will be diverted via New Delhi. The route between Delhi and Shahdara was suspended.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force has finally called off its search and rescue operation in Wednesday's landslide in Irshalwadi in Maharashtra's Raigad district, state minister Uday Samant said on Sunday. Addressing a press conference, Samant, who is the guardian minister of Raigad, said the decision was taken in consultation with the district administration and other concerned authorities as well as local residents. So far, 27 bodies have been recovered while 57 are untraceable, officials said, adding that no bodies were found from the debris on Sunday. These include 12 men, 10 women and four children, while one corpse has not been identified as yet, they added.
Uttarakhand continues to battle floods. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the flood situation in Uttarakhand, said, "...Uttarakhand is witnessing floods & natural calamity. I have already apprised the PM and the Home Minister regarding all this, state government will provide all possible help to the people..."
Gujarat has also been facing a flood-like situation for the past few days. Ahmedabad Airport was flooded on Saturday night and passengers had a hard time commuting as some even got late for their flights.
