PM Modi Launches Projects Worth Rs 48,000 Crore In Karnataka, Maharashtra — HIGHLIGHTS
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch infrastructure projects worth Rs 49,000 crore in Karnataka and Maharashtra on Thursday.
"Today, everyone feels that India is doing something essential for rapid development & prosperity. Today, India is full of unprecedented confidence. With inspiration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, sense of 'swaraj' & 'suraaj' reflects on double-engine govt of today's India," PM Modi said.
"We have seen the time when the money for the poor's welfare used to fall prey to corruption. There was no sensitivity regarding tax received from the taxpayers. Crores of citizens had to bear its loss. In the last 8 years, we have changed this approach. Today, India is spending on its physical and social infrastructure with futuristic thinking and modern approach in mind," he added.

"People of Maharashtra are fortunate. PM Modi will inaugurate (various projects & two lines of Mumbai metro) today. A few people wanted that PM Modi does not get to do this, but just the opposite is happening. MVA Govt had halted development works in Maharashtra," CM Eknath Shinde said.

"Those who ruled the country for a long time took votes of deprived sections of society by giving slogans but didn't take enough steps for their development. We are working to empower them and these sections are getting their rights," PM Modi said in Kalaburagi.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, PM Modi said that the previous governments focused on caste, religion and other such poll factors. "Our priority is not vote bank politics, it is Vikas," he emphasised.

The previous governments did not even think about removing the backwardness of this area. They did not bother to invest or develop any infrastructure here, he said earlier.
Beginning his speech, PM Modi said that Yadgiri protects a rich culture.
"The great rule of Raja Venkatappa Nayaka here in this place leaves a wonderful trail in history. I bow before the historical and heritage land of Yadgiri," he said.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Narayanpur Left Bank Canal - Extension, Renovation & Modernisation project in Yadgiri district.
Flying activities, including use of drones, paragliders, and remote-controlled micro-light aircraft, will not be allowed under the limits of police stations at BKC and nearby areas in Mumbai from noon till midnight in view of the PM's visit, police said, as per PTI.
A few roads in the area will be closed for vehicles, while traffic will be diverted on some other routes, the traffic police said.
At around 5 PM, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development initiatives in Mumbai. At around 6:30 PM, he will inaugurate two lines of Mumbai Metro and also undertake a metro ride.
In Karnataka, Prime Minister will visit the districts Yadgiri and Kalaburagi. At around 12 noon, in Kodekal, Yadgiri District, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects related to irrigation, drinking water and a National Highway development project.
At around 2:15 PM, Prime Minister will reach Malkhed, Kalaburagi District, where he will distribute title deeds (hakku patra) to the eligible beneficiaries of newly declared revenue villages and also lay the foundation stone for a National Highway project.

In a bid to boost infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stones and inaugurate various developmental projects in Karnataka and Maharashtra on Thursday.
According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Yadgir multi-village drinking water supply scheme in Kodekal, that will provide potable water to about 2.3 lakh households of over 700 rural habitations and three towns.
During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate Narayanpur Left Bank Canal – Extension Renovation and Modernisation Project (NLBC-ERM), that will help irrigate 4.5 lakh hectares of command area.
In the afternoon, he will reach Malkhed village in Kalaburagi district, where the prime minister will distribute title deeds to eligible beneficiaries. This is a step to provide formal recognition from the government for their land, and will make them eligible for receiving government services such as drinking water, electricity, roads among others.
Later in the day, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 38,800 crores in Mumbai.
In a bid to boost urban mobility, he will inaugurate Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7, built at a cost of around Rs 12,600 crore. The metro line 2A, connecting Dahisar E and DN Nagar (yellow line) is around 18.6 km long, while metro line 7 connecting Andheri E – Dahisar E (red line) is around 16.5 km long.
He will also launch MUMBAI 1 Mobile App and National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1), that will facilitate ease of travel, can be shown at the entry gates of metro stations and supports digital payment to buy tickets.
The PM will also inaugurate 20 Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana. This initiative provides essential medical services completely free of cost to the people, PMO said.
