HIGHLIGHTS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Tripura on Sunday where he will lay the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 6,800 crore. He will also attend some events during his visit.
At around 10:30 AM, the Prime Minister will participate in the golden jubilee celebration of the North Eastern Council in Shillong. He will attend the meeting of the North Eastern Council at the State Convention Centre. Then at around 11:30 AM, he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects in a public function in Shillong worth over Rs 2450 crores.
PM Modi will then travel to Agartala and in a public function at around 2:45 PM, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various key projects worth over Rs 4350 crores.
Security Beefed Up
Security has been tightened across Tripura for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the northeastern state, where polls are due early next year, officials said.
The PM is expected to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram airport at 2.25 pm and leave for Vivekananda Ground in Agartala, where he would be addressing a rally amid tight security, said District Magistrate (DM), West Tripura, Debapriya Bardhan.
He will also lay the foundation stones for a series of initiatives and inaugurate multiple projects, besides interacting with the beneficiaries of the central and state governments, Bardhan stated.
Projects In Meghalaya
In a step to further boost telecom connectivity in the region, Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation 4G mobile towers. He will inaugurate the New Campus of IIM Shillong at Umsawli, Shillong – Diengpasoh Road, and the Spawn Laboratory at Mushroom Development Center in Meghalaya among others.
He will also lay the foundation stone of the Integrated Hospitality and Convention Centre at Tura and Shillong Technology Park Phase -II.
Projects In Tripura
Prime Minister will launch the Grih Pravesh programme for beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural. He will inaugurate the project for widening of the Agartala bypass (Khayerpur – Amtali) NH-08, and will lay the foundation stones for 32 roads of more than 230 Km length under PMGSY III (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) and for the improvement of 112 roads covering a distance of over 540 Km.
