We have provided substantial financial support of Rs 17,000 crore in the Union Budget of UT Jammu and Kashmir this year. It includes Rs 12,000 crore towards financing the cost of Jammu and Kashmir Police. That's the burden we want to take on our shoulders, so that Jammu and Kashmir has more flexibility to spend money on development activities: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while replying to budget discussion in Lok Sabha, said, "I would like to thank every member of the House who has spoken and taken interest in the Budget which has been presented here. I would like to thank the people of the country for giving this Govt headed by PM Modi, a historic third consecutive term in office. It reaffirms the faith the people have and the commitment with which the Prime Minister is leading the country and therefore building stability and coming up with people-centric policies. We shall all work together to build a Viksit Bharat by 2047."
Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee termed as an “act of autocracy restrictions imposed on the media within Parliament premises. Media persons have been recording comments from MPs on camera near the entry and exit points of the Parliament building, but now they have been restricted to an enclosure made for them.“It is an act of autocracy... The opposition should stand together against this dictatorial act,” she said.
The Congress urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla not to regard an interaction of farmer leaders with the media after they met Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament complex last week as a violation of decorum, and cited past instances of women filmstars and others interacting with reporters after the women's reservation bill was tabled in the House. “There is nothing for those unemployed, farmers, and those in villages. People understand the pains of leading lives amidst price rise,” he added. Akhilesh Yadav also said, “Most of the MPs come from Uttar Pradesh, but we haven’t really received any big projects in the last 10 years.”
In Lok Sabha, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan says, "...Government is committed to farmers welfare. As far as farmers' welfare is concerned, this is a Government led by PM Modi. During your (UPA) government, Swaminathan report came in 2006 and it said that MSP for farmers should be decided by adding 50% to the cost. Their Government refused it..."
Wayanad landslide | In Lok Sabha, LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, "Early this morning, Wayanad was hit by several devastating landslides. More than 70 people have been killed. Mundakkai village has been cut off and the devastating loss of lives and extensive damage is yet to be assessed due to the scale of the tragedy. I have spoken to the Defence Minister and the Chief Minister of Kerala. I request the Union Government to extend all possible support for rescue and medical care, immediate release of the compensation to deceased people - if that compensation can be increased as well - restore vital transport and communication lines, set up relief at the earliest and prepare a roadmap for the rehabilitation of the affected families. Even as I speak, the threat of landslides loom over many areas in Wayanad and the western ghats. Our country has witnessed an alarming rise in landslides in the last few years. There is an urgent need for mapping of landslide-prone areas and to take up mitigation measures and an action plan to address the growing frequency of natural calamities in the ecologically fragile region."
Wayanad landslide: In Rajya Sabha, Union Minister JP Nadda says, "Discussions began here and all the Members expressed their concern over the massive tragedy that has occurred there. I would like to say this is a tragedy of not just Kerala alone, but the entire nation is concerned...Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Government of India is working proactively and doing everything necessary for the relief work in Kerala. On behalf of the Government, I assure you that whatever is needed will be done...PM spoke with the Kerala CM and gave him assurance. Support from central agencies for relief has reached there. Work is being done in coordination with the State Government. Right now, the primary thing is to recover the bodies and save those who can be saved...We should activate Emergency Response System. All of that is being done..."

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticised Gandhi's remarks, stating, "It is sad that Rahul Gandhi's behaviour as the Leader of the Opposition and the language he uses in Parliament, questioning the constitutional post of the Lok Sabha Speaker, is an action to undermine democracy and the Constitution. There is a history behind this when Rahul Gandhi publicly tore the ordinance brought by his government, so I do not see any intention of him to follow the limits of the Constitution."
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned Gandhi's speech, labelling it as "irresponsible."
