'Nafrato ki jung mein ab dekho kya kya ho gaya, sabziya Hindu hui aur bakra Musalmaan ho gaya'. After this inaction on Manipur, India will say, anyone but Modi."
TMC MP Mahua Moitra says "We are here to ask the question in our 'tum abhi chup raho' republic where the PM tells a Governor 'chup raho'. We as elected MPs in this House are routinely told 'chup raho'. This motion is to break this code of silence in Manipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday address the Lok Sabha on the no-confidence motion tabled by the Opposition in the Lower House of the Parliament. The motion was moved by the Opposition in an attempt to corner the Modi government on the issue of Manipur. The motion was admitted by Lok Sabha Speaker and was debated on Tuesday. The ruling National Democratic Alliance faces the no-confidence motion — although not a threat considering the comfortable majority — again after Telugu Desam Party moved a similar motion in 2018.
Modi's address comes just a day after reinstated Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke in the Parliament on the motion. Rahul Gandhi, who spoke first, launched an all-out attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government over the Manipur violence. During his fiery speech in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi alleged that India had been murdered in Manipur.
"You are putting the entire country in flames. First, it was Manipur, now it is Haryana. You want to burn the whole country," Gandhi said in his no-trust vote speech in Lok Sabha.
Later Amit Shah took the stage and addressed the Manipiur issue and also spoke about terrorism in Kashmir and Naxalism in central parts of India. Addressing the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Opposition’s motion of no-confidence against the Centre, the Union Home Minister said, “Only when a CM stops cooperating with the Centre, could he be changed. The present (Manipur) CM (N Biren Singh) has been cooperating with us.”

No Confidence Motion HIGHLIGHTS: Hello and welcome to the live blog on the no-confidence motion debate in Parliament.
Amid the ongoing debate on the no-confidence motion brought in by the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched an all-out attack on BJP and hit out at the Modi government over the Manipur violence.
“You are putting the entire country in flames. First, it was Manipur, now it is Haryana. You want to burn the whole country," Gandhi said in his no-trust vote speech in Lok Sabha.
Taking a dig at PM Modi, he said, "PM Modi doesn't listen to India's voice... Raavan used to listen to just two persons — Meghnad and Kumbhakarna. Similarly, PM Modi listens to only Amit Shah and [Gautam] Adani."
Countering Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, Union Minister Smriti Irani began her speech against the no-confidence motion, saying that the Opposition must "quit India". Commenting on the Opposition alliance's nomenclature, she said that these parties were not INDIA as India is against corruption and dynastic politics.
"You are not India, for India is not corrupt. India believes in merit not in dynasty and today of all the days, people like you need to remember what was told to the British - Quit India. Corruption quit India, Dynasty quit India. Merit now finds a place in India,” Irani said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, replying to the no-confidence motion tabled by the Opposition, once again invoked “Nehru’s mistake” and addressed the Manipur issue.
He said that the no-confidence motion has been brought only to “create a delusion” and said “Opposition may not have confidence in PM Modi but people of India have.” Shah also talked about terrorism in Kashmir, insurgency in Naxal-hit states and the ethnic violence in Manipur.
On the issue of northeast, Amit Shah slammed the Opposition saying it did nothing for the region whereas PM Modi visited the states more than 50 times.
