Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden on the bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar on Sunday morning. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally is held under the auspices of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to encourage people to bring the flag home and raise it to commemorate India's 77th year of independence.
A video released by ANI depicted Sinha at the rally's helm, clutching the fluttering tricolour as resonant chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' filled the air. The vibrant display of patriotism reflected the people of Jammu and Kashmir's collective sentiment, emphasising their unwavering commitment to the nation.
Earlier in the day, the BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh led the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally through the picturesque streets of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Chugh can be seen leading the procession in a video posted by news agency ANI.
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally, held under the auspices of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' aimed to encourage citizens to embrace the national flag as a symbol of unity and freedom. The procession made its way from SKICC to the tranquil Botanical Garden on the banks of Dal Lake, attracting enthusiastic participation from people of all ages and backgrounds.
In a veiled yet significant reference to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Sinha praised the rally's overwhelming response, emphasising that the event demonstrated Jammu and Kashmir's youth's deep reverence for the national flag. "Those who questioned our region's devotion to the flag were proven wrong today. The fervour and enthusiasm on display during the 'Tiranga Yatra' speak volumes about our shared commitment to a united and vibrant India," Sinha was quoted as saying by PTI.
Notably, prior to the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, Mufti expressed scepticism about the people of Jammu and Kashmir's willingness to raise the tricolour following the change in the region's special status. The resounding success of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally is a poignant response to such scepticism, reaffirming the people's indomitable spirit.
Sinha further underscored the inclusive nature of the rally, emphasizing the role of the younger generation in shaping the region's future. "Today, the youth of Kashmir are actively contributing to the progress and development of our nation. This heartening transformation is a testament to their resilience and determination," he remarked.
